Professional Six-Wheel Build for the Classic W463
Kubay Design developed this Mercedes W463 six-wheel conversion for a complete pickup-style transformation. The package combines structural, drivetrain, suspension and exterior components for a specialist workshop.
This project requires much more than exterior styling. First, the installer extends and reinforces the frame. Next, the workshop integrates the middle drive axle, portal system and longer rear body. Therefore, professional assembly remains essential.
Complete Structural Package: High-Tensile Steel Subframe Rails
Every classic g-wagon 6×6 kit build starts with chassis boxing — thick-wall, high-tensile steel subframe rails welded and bolted directly into the original W463 chassis rails. This heavy-gauge steel fabrication extends the wheelbase without introducing flex, giving the finished truck the same structural confidence as the donor frame it’s built from.
Factory Suspension Re-Anchoring Nodes for Triple-Axle Alignment
Original suspension mounting points are re-anchored to new, reinforced nodes positioned for correct triple-axle alignment, while the middle axle pass-through gearbox and extended brake lines are routed to match the new geometry — keeping steering and braking behavior predictable across all three axles.
Body Components Included in the Package
The W463 6×6 conversion kit includes the main parts required to create the longer body and wider stance:
- Heavy-duty extended rear body
- Reinforced steel upper body arc
- Extended and strengthened rear frame
- Rear floor panels with water-resistant yacht-wood details
- Genuine carbon-fibre fender flares
- Three integrated rear panoramic windows
- Six rims with six off-road tyres
- Genuine carbon-fibre roof spoiler
- Long carbon-fibre side mouldings
- Reinforced steel front and rear skid plates
Together, these parts form the extended rear body around the third axle. In addition, the carbon details create a refined finish. However, the workshop should test-fit every panel before paint and final assembly.
Deep-Drawn Steel Pickup Bed Assembly with Wood Liner Accents
The rear pickup bed is formed from deep-drawn steel for a clean, factory-style panel line, finished inside with a water-resistant yacht-wood liner and three integrated rear panoramic windows — echoing the cabin details found on original limited-run Mercedes 6×6 models.
Authentic Carbon Fiber Arches Formed for Massive 37-Inch Offroad Tires
Wheel arch extensions are formed from genuine carbon fiber in Kubay Design’s signature 2×2 weave, sized to clear massive 37-inch offroad tires while matching the proportions and visual stance of the original limited-series 6×6. The result is an authentic profile, not an oversized aftermarket flare.
Suspension and Drivetrain Components
The package also includes the main parts for the portal axle conversion:
- Performance shock absorbers with heavy-duty springs
- Suspension spacers for the lifted setup
- Reinforced portal axles
- Middle drive axle with differential
- Universal joints and silentblocks
- Brake fittings and hydraulic connectors
Portal axles can increase clearance beneath the axle line. Nevertheless, the final result depends on the portal ratio, tyre size, suspension setup and finished vehicle weight. Kubay Design does not state one universal clearance or load figure.
Compatibility and Generation Verification
This package targets the classic model series 463. It does not automatically fit W460, W461, W463A or W465 vehicles. Those platforms use different frame, suspension, body and mounting layouts.
Fully compatible with all classic W463 configurations (1990–2018). Request mechanical blueprint matching for your engine type.
Check the VIN Before Ordering
The classic donor uses traditional body proportions and rigid axle construction. In contrast, the redesigned 2018+ generation has a wider body, updated LED headlamps and independent front suspension.
However, facelift parts can change the exterior appearance. Therefore, send the VIN, production year, engine, transmission and underbody photos before ordering. Previous repairs may also affect installation.
Optional Assembly and Interior Work
Kubay Design offers professional assembly in Poland for an additional $20,000. The estimated workshop time is approximately two months. However, donor condition and optional work may change the schedule.
A luxury interior conversion starts from $24,000. Customers may also request colour-matched finishes, extra lighting or a project-specific suspension setup. The final quotation will list every selected option.
Worldwide Shipping and Project Planning
Kubay Design can arrange international freight or workshop pickup. Shipping cost, insurance, packaging, customs fees and delivery time depend on the destination and shipment size.
